Sunscreen Roller Blinds are a mesh weave fabric that prevent the glare and UV radiation entering your home and damaging your furniture and floors, keeping your home cool and reducing your energy bills.
Sunscreen roller blinds have the effect of opening rooms up to make the indoors feel more like the outdoors. Designed to let in maximum light to keep your rooms bright and airy.
Daytime Privacy
Sunscreen blinds provide a great level of daytime privacy as you typically can’t see into the room from outside. The opposite is true at night, sunscreen blinds do not provide privacy at night when the lights are on, so they are not ideal for bedrooms or bathrooms unless they are used with a block-out blind in a dual blind setup.
Fabrics
Curtains & Blinds Launceston have access to a wide range of quality blind fabrics from reputable fabric suppiers. Sunscreen fabrics commonly come in weave openness factors of 10% to 2%, providing shade cover of 90% to 98%.
Each fabric performs to a high standard with varying characteristics in terms of fabric width, weave type, nominal weight and thickness to suit your windows needs.
Colours
We have a wide range of colour options to suit your home. Note that the colours have varying Solar Optical Properties that dictate how your Sunscreen Blind performs in terms of solar and visual efficiency. In general terms a white colour (compared to black) has higher solar transmittance and reflectance, whilst lower solar absorptance and visual transmittance. Blended weaves such as ‘white grey’ can provide a good medium.
Technical Stuff
Our sunscreen fabrics are non toxic, VOC free, lead free, formaldehyde free and mould resistant (ISO 846). All are fire retardant tested to AS1530 and Greenguard certification applies to most.
Fabrics should be regularly dusted and vacuumed as appropriate. Wiping with a clean damp sponge and soft cloth. Never use abrasive or solvent-based prodcuts to clean or roll up when fabric is damp.
